Celebrating 30 years

We’re celebrating a key milestone this year, with Nationwide Super launching in Newcastle, NSW in 1987 as ‘Northern Superannuation Fund’. While we don’t have anyone still working here from that time, the current team is just as committed to the original objectives – to grow a multi-industry super fund that provides exceptional products and services to our members and supporting employers.

At that time, a group of Novocastrian businessmen got together to form a superannuation fund that would keep jobs in the Hunter region. We’re still based in the region, and have been located in Charlestown since 2000, but have employers and members spread right around Australia.

We’ve seen plenty of major changes in the super industry over that time, in terms of both legislation, and the needs of the people we’re here to help.

Chief Executive Office, Ian Morante, says that adapting to a changing landscape is just part of the job.
