Choosing a Super fund
Choosing a superannuation fund is a right that employees in most industries and businesses are entitled to. They have the right to choose which super fund or retirement savings account will receive their Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions.
How to choose a superannuation fund for your employees
Generally, you are obliged to offer your employees a choice of superannuation fund if they are:
- Employed under a federal award
- Employed under a former state award (now, a ‘notional agreement preserving state award’)
- Employed under another award or agreement that doesn’t require super support
- Not employed under any state award or industrial agreement.
The ATO provides plenty of details about your choice of super fund obligations on their site at Choice of super fund – meeting your obligations.
